What does resilience mean to you?

Wikipedia defines resilience by:

Psychological resilience is the ability to mentally or emotionally cope with a crisis or to return to pre-crisis status quickly. Resilience exists when the person uses "mental processes and behaviours in promoting personal assets and protecting self from the potential negative effects of stressors". (thanks Wikipedia)

We hear the word the word a lot these days. It's talked about in our schools, in business and in high level sports. WE thought we needed to hear more so we are very pleased to announce our keynote speaker for our grantee evening on 7 November – Mr Bradley Hook. Bradley is the Chief Executive Officer of the Resilience Institute. He has worked internationally in a range of roles spanning media, technology and human development. Brad’s writing has been featured in international business and travel magazines, including several cover stories, and he is the author of multiple books including Resilience Mastery and Surfing Life Waves.

At the Resilience Institute, Brad is focused on helping individuals and organisations realise their potential through the development of practical, evidence-based resilience skills.

While Brad is here, he is delivering a seminar in the Whitehaven Room on Wednesday 6 November from 4-5.30pm (sponsored by the Inspire Foundation Marlborough). This seminar is open to the public and is limited to 160 people. If you would like to come along register at info@marlborough.inspirefoundation.co.nz. He will also be spending some time with our college pupils, passing on his valuable knowledge.

We are thrilled to have Brad here and look forward to learning more and supporting our Marlborough community
