May 28th 2020 Grantee Evening

On Thursday 28 May we honoured our 6th set of Marlborough grantees. Our ceremony was virtual this time due tour COVID -19 restrictions and our grantees were also limited because of cancelled events due to the virus. Our 3 amazing grantees and 5 re-grants again showed extraordinary talent in their specialty areas and in life as they have adapted and built resilience during this extraordinary time. The grantees acceptance speeches are all on our Inspire Foundation Marlborough Facebook page – go and check them out https://www.facebook.com/Inspirefoundationmarlboro...

Our grantees this round were:

Stephie Loncar – Forensic Anthropology

Nikau Peipi – Touch Rugby

Lauren Doherty - Violin

And re-grants to

Jade Otway - Tennis

Samantha Grammer - Ballet

Brett McKeown - Bagpipes

Jonty Zydenbos - Music

Angus Mcfarlane - Rowing

Because of the nature of our zoom ceremony we didn't have a speaker this time, Abbe Hutchins from Marlborough Tour Company, one of our Corporate Sponsors, opened the event with Mark Davis chair, and Ang Wilson ( committee) introducing the grantees. We heard from both our ambassadors Joseph Sullivan and Craig Harper who told us about their adaptations for training during lockdown. Joe is working towards the next America’s Cup and talked how he adapted his training at home while caring for his new daughter. We also were lucky to play 2 of grantee Lauren Doherty’s compositions during the event. A lot of work went into making this even seamless and also giving the recognition deserved to our grantees – we look forward to being back in the ASB theatre in November for the next round! Congratulations to this round of grantees and we look forward to seeing your progress.
