At 20, Ihorangi Reweti Peters is a Māori advocate with lived experience of State care who speaks nationally on improving outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Oranga Tamariki Award and the Waitaha–Canterbury Young Change Maker Award, a 2024 Young New Zealander of the Year finalist, and former Chair of the VOYCE Whakarongo Mai Te Waipounamu Regional Youth Council. This Grant supports his travel and registration to attend the ISPCAN congress in Melbourne. He affiliates to Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Tahu–Ngāti Whaoa and Ngāti Kahungunu and aims to become a recognised leader across the care and mental health sectors.
