  1. Grantee | April 2026

At 22, Sophie Lumb brings an uncommon combination of international experience and leadership to her legal studies at the University of Canterbury. Originally from Australia, she spent her early years training full time in classical ballet, earning a scholarship to the Queensland Ballet Academy and performing internationally before transitioning into law. Since arriving in Canterbury, she has immersed herself in university life, culminating in her role as President of LAWSOC, where she led 63 initiatives across academic, professional, and student engagement areas, the highest number recorded by the club. This Grant supports her participation in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, where she will represent the University on a global stage while continuing to build a career focused on international disputes and legal accountability.
