At 17, Tegen Stewart is a distance freestyle swimmer whose rapid rise in open water has been remarkable — she first competed in the discipline in January 2026 at the New Zealand Open Water Championships in Taupō, where she won the 7.5km title, taking both the open and age group categories on debut. In 2025 she won three New Zealand age group medals in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle at the national championships. Her selection to represent New Zealand at the World Junior Open Water Championships in Santa Fe, Argentina marks a defining moment in her career. This Grant supports her travel to Argentina in September 2026 for her first international campaign.
