Jonty has been playing the cornet and trumpet since he was 6 years old. He has been selected in the National Secondary School Brass Band and National Youth Band every year since 2015. At the Southern Jam Youth Jazz Festival, he has been lead trumpet for the past 3 years and this year was awarded top musician. Jonty has won Lead Trumpet All Stars Band (2016-2018); Top Trumpet (2016/17); Top Overall Musician and Best Composition 2018. He aims to be selected for the 2019 National Secondary School Brass Band and 2020 National Youth Band and win the U20 cornet section at the 2019 National Brass Band Contest and to be Top Trumpet and Overall Musician at the 2019 Southern Jam Jazz Festival. He also has Julliard Jazz School of Music in his sights.
