Jack Flynn
Medicine
Jack started swimming when he was a toddler. He has trained his whole life and in 2017 he attended the Special Olympics National Games held in Wellington. His specialty is breaststroke. Jack applied and was successful in gaining Para Classification in 2018. At the South Island champs in 2019 he broke the NZ S14 Para Swimming record for the 200m breaststroke swimming in an able-bodied event. His heat time of 3.13.31 broke the previous record of 3.14.09 and he smashed this again in the finals with a time of 3.12.73. This qualified Jack for the 2019 INAS Global Games to be held in Brisbane in October this year. Jack would like to qualify for the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games.
I was given the privilege of coaching Jack in January 2019. Jack is a very coachable young man, with a strong work ethic, passion and a strong desire of reaching his dream of representing NZ, a goals which I believe is certainly achievable given Jacks focus to be the best he can be.
