Bella is one of two NZ female swimmers competing at the June Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin. Born with Down Syndrome, at 21 Bella has swum competitively and won many national Special Olympics medals since primary school. She fits swim training around work, dance performance and dance instructor training, and recently became a Karate green belt. Bella inspires others to be full and active members of their community. This Grant will help her compete in Berlin as the next step towards the 2025 Special Olympics and getting into the Special Olympics NZ Athlete Leader programme to become an ambassador for people with intellectual disabilities.
