Briana Steven, aged 23, has excelled in orienteering, representing NZ on the world stage since 2018. She began orienteering at a young age and was selected for the Jnr World Orienteering Champs team in 2018 and 2019, as well as the NZ World Champs team in 2023. As an official coach for the Jnr World Orienteering Champs NZ team, Briana mentors young athletes, emphasising her commitment to the sport and the next generation. This grant will support her participation in international events over 3 months this year, including the World Cup, World Champs, World University Champs, and coaching at the Jnr World Champs. Briana’s long-term goal is to elevate her competitive results and coaching skills to become the permanent NZ World Champs team coach, inspiring athletes with her expertise and passion.
