Campbell started ballet aged 7, and now 19 has never stopped loving it. In addition, Campbell has played the bagpipes since he was 8 which he says provides him with a heightened awareness of musicality. Having completed secondary school at St Andrew's College through a music scholarship, Campbell is now in his first year at the New Zealand School of Dance, majoring in classical ballet. With global competition wins for the bagpipes (youngest ever winner of the Comunn na Piobaireachd New Zealand Gold Medal), and scholarship to attend a Brisbane City Ballet summer school, Campbell is excelling in two disciplines. He will use this Grant for ongoing study as part of a journey towards a global career as a professional ballet dancer - where he also hopes to find a way to combine both ballet and bagpipes.
