Gus has his sights set on a professional international career as a triathlete. His love for the sport started with winning the Marlborough Cross Country at primary school and led him to this year placing second in the U19 National Duathlon Champs, first in the U19 NZ Sprint Distance Triathlon and first in the Junior Elite Triathlon Cup in Taupo. Gus’s long-term goal is to be in the top 50 in world rankings while retaining the same love for the sport. The Director of the Canterbury Triathlon Academy programme says that “Gus has enormous potential to be one of New Zealand’s top triathletes and has the work ethic to back up his potential”.
