Inspired by his grandfather, a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, Jack has been a volunteer medic on the side of rugby fields in Marlborough since he was 9. At 17 he was the youngest person to ever hold an Advanced Certificate of Resuscitation & Emergency Life Support & qualify as an Extended Care Sports Medic. Throughout his schooling at Marlborough Boys College Jack amassed awards for sport and academic success and in his final year was Head Boy. He is currently studying to become a doctor at Auckland Medical School aiming to specialise in trauma and critical care. Last year he got the highest mark of his peers in the MBChB Final Progress Test, his score 3.5% off the final passing grade a full 4 years early. Jack is driven by his love for medicine and the incredible impact it can have on others. In the future he would like to revolutionise trauma care in New Zealand particularly in rural and regional areas where there are massive inequities in access to the best care.
