17-year-old Jacob from North Canterbury got hooked on mountain biking at a young age after watching his mum race in mountain biking events. He has achieved multiple podium finishes including 1st in South Island, National and Oceania events and was selected to compete in an international season in the USA which was unfortunately cut short due to Covid 19. Jacob intended to use his Grant to attend an international season in Europe for both racing experience and top-level coaching and to compete for New Zealand at the World Cup in October however the Junior World Cup event has now also been impacted by the ongoing Covid 19 situation. Ultimately Jacob wants to become an outstanding role model for fellow Tourette’s sufferers and successfully compete at future Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
