Jody immigrated here from South Africa when he was 13 years old when he joined the Junior Smallbore Rifle Club. In 2010 he was asked to compete in the interschool Full-bore Championships, which he won twice over the following years. The most defining moment of Jody’s career was shooting at the 2018 National Championship, taking 3rd place in C grade as well as becoming the top C grade shooter in NZ. When he trialled for the NZ U25 team he placed his studies on hold to focus on his training. He qualified for the NZ U25 team and will compete at the World Championships in Wellington in January and February 2019. His goal is to qualify for the NZ Open team to compete at the World Championships in Bloemfontein, South Africa in 2023.
