Jonty played football from a young age and represented Marlborough all through primary school. While playing for Marlborough Football he trialled for the National Talent Centre where he did well enough to be ranked in the top 3 of the camp for his age group. In 2015 he was given a place in the Paul Ifill’s Nelson academy, at the end of the first year, he was offered a position in Paul’s full-time academy at Rathkeale College in Masterton. Jonty then debuted for Wairarapa United in the Central League at 15 years old and played against the Wellington Phoenix in 2019/2020. His coach speaks of his dedication and high work ethic. They also commend him on his outstanding attitude and the positive effect he has on all those around him. Jonty is trialling with football clubs in Australia, England, and Europe in January 2021 with high hopes of securing a professional contract with eyes on the 2024 Olympics representing New Zealand.
