Karereatua is a 17 year old Māori, Tongan, Samoan, Pakeha basketballer who credits her passion for sport to her family and the Aranui community where she grew up. A Canterbury and NZ rep who has competed internationally since 2018, this Grant will enable Karereatua to compete in the Asia Cup in Jordan and U17 World Cup in Hungary. As an academic high achiever she has her eye on gaining a US College Scholarship towards playing professionally while building a career in law. Karereatua is also passionate about being a role model for young Māori /Pacific Island wahine.
