Mary Hunter, 18, is a competitive Irish dancer and teaching student who has achieved top placements in national championships, including a second-place finish at the 2024 NZ Nationals. Mary was born in Wales, and is a New Zealand citizen after being immersed in the culture since age 7. Balancing her dance career with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning, Mary inspires younger dancers through her passion and dedication to dance and learning. This grant will support her participation in the World Irish Dance Championships in Dublin, bringing her closer to her dream of becoming NZ’s National Champion and a certified Irish dance teacher.
